Poloxamer is a generic name of polyoxyethylene - polyoxypropylene copolymer. BASF's product, called Pluronic, is a non-ionic polymer surfactant with relatively hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chain and relatively lipophilic polyoxypropylene chain. It is mainly used as emulsifier and solvent increasing in pharmaceutical preparations.
