   Phenacetin is a non-opioid analgesic without anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits COX-3 activity. Target: COX Phenacetin is a pain-relieving and fever-reducing drug,  Phenacetin has been linked to renal papillary necrosis in human beings.

1.Phenacetin was first synthesized by Morse in 1878, and was listed in the United States in 1887. It is the first synthetic antipyretic analgesic on the market, and is often used to treat headache, fever, neuralgia, etc. But the 1953 incident of phenacetin-induced severe kidney damage raised alarms about the drug's safety, and the 1970 incident of phenacetin-induced urinary tract cancer further questioned its safety.

2.Due to the toxicity and side effects of phenacetin, the drug has been discontinued to be used alone. At present, phenacetin is mainly used in combination with aspirin and caffeine to make compound preparation APC for antipyretic and analgesic.

3.Phenacetin is also an important organic synthesis raw material and pharmaceutical intermediate, which is of great significance in organic synthesis, drug production and new drug development.
