  Clavulanic acid is a β-lactam drug that functions as a mechanism-based β-lactamase inhibitor. While not effective by itself as an antibiotic, when combined with penicillin-group antibiotics, it can overcome antibiotic resistance in bacteria that secrete β-lactamase, which otherwise inactivates most penicillins.

Product Function

1.Clavulanic acid is not reversible competitive inhibitors of beta-lactamase, firmly binding enzyme inactivation of the enzyme, so powerful, not only gold aureus of beta-lactamase, and Gram-negative bacilli of beta-lactamase. 
2.Penicillins, cephalosporin class combined with greatly increased antimicrobial activity, can make the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) decreased drug effect several times to more than 10 times, drug-resistant strains to recover its sensitivity. 
3.This product is also known as clavulanic acid, new oxygen nucleus produced by Streptomyces β-lactam antibiotics. Potassium clavulanate for the needle-like crystals, soluble in water.
